It was a wonderful trip, I learned a lot about sailing, and about patience.
You have time to think about things when you sit (or stand) on watch for four hours, and I prayed for all of you at winterbrook, and others.

I think its worth the time it takes to learn and experiment with the software available today that can make your images look much more interesting.

It doesn't take an expensive DSLR to make good pictures, if you think about your composition and exposure you can do it with any camera.

An interesting verse, Proverbs 24:27

This morning I decided to do a small study on Proverbs 24:27.

We have been talking as a family about this verse some over the last few days, so I thought it would be a good thing to look at the Hebrew and see what it was really talking about.

Prepare thy work without,

and make ready thy things in the field,

and after build thy house.

Now this can be taken in quite a few ways, first we can take it at face value and go with the wise saying, "Don't start any entrepreneurial undertaking without the proper funds" we don't want to be like the man who gets a vision of a good business and then go's and starts it, without thinking about the cost.

We can also look at the verse and say, "don't live outside your means" this is especially true about houses, rather than go into debt in this economy live in a small cabin for a while, so that you wouldn't have to go into debt to buy food! Get your business in order, or get a good steady job and have money saved, before you think about buying something that you cannot really afford, and have to live with the consequences, the lack of sleep, the working two jobs just to keep from loosing your house, and most importantly, not being able to disciple your children because your gone all the time working outside the home, to pay for the debt that you made by buying something outside your means. Is it worth it?

there is one more way I could find to look at this verse, if you look at the Greek definition of House in this verse, you will see it says (at least in Strong's concordance) especially family, so the verse could be read to say that you should (and this is a paraphrase) "prepare your business, and have moneys saved, and then start a family". Its a good thing to be prepared, especially today with the nation in the state it is, you want to have the ability to support a family before you start one.

Now don't just take this from me, do some study on your own and find out for yourself, its amazing how the scriptures can come to light, and to life when you look at the meanings of the words in the original languages.

One more thing, here is Matthew Henry's commentary on this verse (his whole commentary of the bible is online).

This is a rule of prudence in the management of household affairs; for all good men should be good husbands, and manage with discretion, which would prevent a great deal of sin, and trouble, and disgrace to their profession. 1. We must prefer necessaries before conveniences, and not lay that out for show which should be expended for the support of the family. We must be contented with a mean cottage for a habitation, rather than want, or go in debt for, food convenient. 2. We must not think of building till we can afford it: "First apply thyself to thy work without in the field; let thy ground be put into good order; look after thy husbandry, for it is that by which thou must get; and, when thou hast got well by that, then, and not till then, thou mayest think of rebuilding and beautifying thy house, for that is it upon which, and in which, thou wilt have occasion to spend.’’ Many have ruined their estates and families by laying out money on that which brings nothing in, beginning to build when they were not able to finish. Some understand it as advice to young men not to marry (for by that the house is built) till they have set up in the world, and not wherewith to maintain a wife and children comfortably. 3. When we have any great design on foot it is wisdom to take it before us, and make the necessary preparations, before we fall to work, that, when it is begun, it may not stand still for want of materials. Solomon observed this rule himself in building the house of God; all was made ready before it was brought to the ground, 1 Ki. 6:7.

Boating trip

After the conference, Dad and I went out with the father of the family we staid with to go get his boat from Deleware.

Root Beer

We made some root beer about 4 week ago, but it didn't turn out very well. After having 19 bottles explode, we had to do something about it, so Ruthie and I went out and opened the bottles and poured the contents into a bucket.

My aunt Pam and cousin's just came back to the states, and have just gone through a 9 hour time change!
Aunt Pam is sick from a cold that she just got, it may be from over tiredness.

I would covet your prayers.

One wonderful thing that happened yesterday, when we went to get Grandma from the airport I was able to get some pictures of the beautiful sunset.

Samuel got a Turkey

Wednesday morning at about 6:55 Seth Called me and asked me if I wanted to go hunt a turkey, (someone had said that they were too tired), and we went out to the Minot Country Store to ask about the laws (they tag our turkeys).

After going there twice, and showing them the info from the website, we went out and took all morning looking for a turkey.
We picked up John and continued hunting, we didn't find a turkey until 11:38 when over at Tory Road.
John spotted a couple in the field, but when we got into where they had been, they had moved up into the upper field.
They had left the upper field when we got there, so Seth went up to the embankment of the third field, and saw one, so after I climbed for three minutes (for a bank that was only 8 feet high) I got into position and shot the turkey.

Web Deisgn Class/ My new camera

Well Yesterday I did a web design class with Natasha, Seth (sort of), and shayla, it was very interesting and I think that they have got at least some knowledge of the basics of how it works.

Next time though, I will make sure that we have a plan of what they want to have for a layout, and colors and things.

Even with the problems we had a great day and did get somethings done, but we will be doing it again soon.

After the class Seth, Ruthie, and I went to basketball, and had a blast, well Ruthie didn't play, but she took some pictures with my new camera!!

And about the camera, the card finally came, so I am very happy!!!!!!

New life

A few days ago we got baby chicks, and while they are so soft and cute if you think about it they a perfect picture of a little child, completely innocent, having to learn everything, and just being cute, if you think about it any new life is that way. this morning at 5:30 or so Ruthie and I took these pictures.
We used her camera as mine is broken... Ugh....have to find a camera shop around, or a sledge hammer and some duct tape might work.....LOL

Anyway that was the pictures. I hope you all have a nice easter.

Patrick Henry, A man we need to see more like

I have been reading a book about Patrick Henry and I wish that I saw more young men that were like him!
Not afraid in action, willing to stand up for what was right even if no one else was, and with vision enough to see what the things being done were going (probably) to do, and more interested in the nations welfare then in video games and sports.
But there is some hope, with the influx of home schooled, reformed young men coming of age there will be more of them to start getting a vision for the future.
anyways here is a very famous speech given by Patrick Henry, even if you have read it before its worth reading again.

Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775.
No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony. The questing before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. A few days ago, we went to see someone, and they were so glad that we had decided to just come over with not a lot of warning and formality. And I think that if people have the time to come and see someone they should just come! of course calling ahead and letting them know that they would like to come and not disturbing company, if they have any. because if you are someones good friend, you want to see them and if they just come, so much the better.

Back from CO... now heres what we did

Today we got home from a trip to Colorado; we went to the Generations with Vision Family Economics Conference in Castle Rock, CO and had a Great time. We were out there four days. (Thursday through Monday) On our flight out there, I met this really nice guy, who had been a limousine driver, and many other things. But that was not what made him interesting, he was really good at basketball, and he told me some very interesting things about the game that I did not know. He said that I should be a forward, playing the net and getting rebounds on offence.

When we got to Denver, we went to the rental car company, and after some trouble, and waiting we got our car.

We had made arrangements to stay with a family (thank you Megan Roach) and they were 20 miles from Denver. But it took us 53 miles to get there (even with a GPS and map) but they were very gracious to us. And when we got there we had time to unload our bags out of the car and head out again, for friends of theirs the Gibas family. The speed limits are very high out there, 75 miles per hour, and people speed. It took about ten minutes to get to the Gibas’s house. And we had dinner there, it was very nice. After dinner we had a mid

week Church service where Mr. Bobb preached on the Ten Commandments for today, which was very interesting.

Then we went back to the Bobbs for some much needed rest.

The next morning we had breakfast at about seven in the morning, and left for castle rock, which is about 40 minutes away (the Bobbs live in Strasburg).The conference started at 9:00, with check in starting at 7:30 Am. The conference started with a song by Daniel Craig

After he sang Bill Roach led us in a couple of songs and then came Kevin Swanson with some thought provoking words to start of the conference. After the first message was through we split up and went to different messages so that we could all take notes and then share what we learned, I went to a message by Kevin Swanson about the Deaconate which was very good, after that message was over (and the Q. and A. had started) we met up in the front room and got our lunch out of the car, it was a very good lunch, thank you Bobbs. After lunch we went in for the next session which was by Kevin Swanson and a panel of the other speakers and was titled How to break free from our economic chains, it was really good and I enjoyed the way that they answered questions. After that lecture we separated again, I went a message by economist Doug Tjaden entitled Money, Gold, and Your family’s economic freedom. It was very interesting how he showed us the way that the Federal Reserve (which is as federal as FedEx) cheats us and is destroying the economy of

America. And how the banking system of America is already fallen but has not been announced yet. After that we met up again and went to the keynote panel on Family Entrepreneurship. This was done by Dennis Peacocke, R.C. Sproul Jr. Scott Brown, Kevin Swanson, and James Lansberry. It was really good, but by this time mom had a really bad headache because there is no air (practically) up at that elevation and it is so dry that you have to drink a ton of water. Which we had not done so when the Bobbs had to go because they had to do some cleaning for their grandfather we decided to go with them. But before we got there we had to stop at Wendy’s for some supper, and after supper they decided that they could do it faster if only Mr. Bobb (Carl) and Aninna Went. So the rest of us piled in their van and went back to their house. And it’s too bad that we had to go because I’ve heard that the message that followed dinner was really good, it was by Dennis Peacocke. So when the next morning came we got up early and got ready to go again, we had breakfast at 7:30 and left for the conference. Saturday started with more singing and another song by Daniel Craig which was very nice. The Winton’s who had sung the morning before did not sing this morning.

The opening message of that morning was by R.C. Sproul Jr. and was titled Simple, Separate, and deliberate… in tough Economic times, It was a message to remember.

After that we went our separate ways again, I went to the message by Kevin Swanson called the Mentorship program, this was the message that everyone who wants to know how to get a great education and retain it for life, in a truly biblical way. We then went out

to our car and had lunch. After lunch we went to two different messages, Dad, Ruth, and Amanda Went to A message by Eric Weir and Panel called the Corporate Economy and Your Family. Mom and I went to Raising Sons to be Providers, by Bill Roach, and Mike Cheney,

You have to be the provider, not just the breadwinner, and what you do at 12 - 15 will have a huge impact on what you do at 20 so you have to develop a good work ethic early, and we will work in heaven. Those are just a few things that I learned from that message. I left that message a little early because I needed to get a couple of books from Chalcedon by R.J. Rushdoony. After I bought the books I went out to the foyer and talked to Chad Roach for a few moments. After that we went to the last session of the conference by Kevin Swanson, called Bondage or Freedom! A Biblical Vision for economic and political liberty, this message was defiantly a good one. We then went to the pizza party that they had set up (with the Bobb’s and Gibas’s) and had a great time.

I got to play basketball with a few of the boys after we ate, but only half of the people who has been scheduled to come came, so of the 65 pizzas that were ordered there were 27 left. After that we left for the Bobb’s and we went to bed. Sunday morning we had a nice breakfast and learned a fraise of Swiss German Have a good meal, I cant spell it in German so I wont try but anyways we left for church and got there on time. The morning’s sermon was by R.C. Sproul Jr. and was very good. After church I played four square and capture the flag with the kids from church it was fun. We were then invited (with anybody else who wanted to) to go to the Swanson’s for a late lunch and fellowship, and guess what we had for lunch… pizza! Their house is huge, I played ping pong in their cellar, and after lunch we went to a park to play some ultimate Frisbee… but ended playing soccer instead. After that we went back to the Bobb’s (they did not come to the Swanson’s) and talked till 11:00. And then Monday, the day that we have to go home, Baaaaaaa… oh well we will stay longer next time. And then we went home and we are there now .

So that is the end of a very good trip.

A trip to the Millers Wood shop

Last weekend, as most of you know Dad and I went to the Millers for the woodworking class that they were holding. It was great, I really enjoyed it, I met some really interesting people, and most importantly I learned a lot. so here are a few pictures to wet your interest.

Superbowl 44

well the game is over, and the Saints have won, so now comes the question, "can the Colts as a team win in post season play? My answer.... nope why, you ask because even though Payton Manning has four MVP's he only has one Super-bowl win. not a good sign, now on the other hand Tom Brady has one MVP but has three superbowl wins in four years. so the choice is yours, would you rather have four MVP's and one Superbowl. (looks like your a regular season star) Or one MVP and three Superbowl wins......hmmmmmm a good questions comment with your answers.
P.s it was really fun to watch the Superbowl in HD on our tv.

A Knight of the White Cross

This book is set in Rhodes in the 1480s, and depicts the knights of St John at the time of the first siege of that great city.

The main character Gervaise Tresham Was inducted into the order at a very young age and served many years in their service.

For two years He was a page of the Grand Master. And then he became (at 15 years old) one of the professed Knights of the Order. He served as an overseer of some of the slaves who were at work on the defenses; by the end of six months he had a great knowledge of Masonry which would come in to be very useful later.

He was next sent out on board a galley under the command of Sir Louis Ricord, as part of a cruising fleet of three galleys. They were going to cruise between the islands and the mainland. As they went along the herd reports of a dreadful corsair, Hassan Ali. So they kept out a sharp lookout for him.
One morning when Gervaise and his Dear friend Ralph Harcourt were sent to the hills to look and see if they could spot any ships of a suspicious character, for five minutes they looked without seeing anything that looked suspicious, but just as they were going to head down the ship, Gervaise saw smoke coming from an island about five miles away. They ran to the ship, and made for the island as fast as the slaves could row. There was a battle, and they captured four of the pirates, but the cost was dear, in all seven knights had fallen. So Ricord Sent Gervaise, Ralph, a English knight named Sir John Boswell, and ten rowers to their rendezvous some fifty miles away.
They were spotted by the corsairs, who had not made it to the ships when the battle started, and took a ship that was at the shoreline, and gave chase. The knights almost did not make it.
But due to the knowledge of Turkish that Sir John Boswell had acquired while a prisoner of the Egyptians they were able to escape, make it back to the rendezvous, and get the other ships to come to the help of Ricord.

For the next nine months Gervaise (seeing the advantage of knowing the language) took to learning Turkish, with one of the slaves (who was a nobleman in his own country) named Suleiman Ali.

And he discovered a plot by of the slaves, to escape in some of the galleys, Burn the rest, and Spike the guns at fort ST Nicolas.

And at one point he was Captured by the Moors, and used his knowledge of Turkish to escape.

Gervaise became a very distinguished Knight of the Order.

And during the Siege of Rhodes, he saved the fort of ST Nicolas by a action with Fire ships, and Saved the life of the Grand Master, when at a Breach in the walls, the Grand Master fell to the ground, Gervaise stood over him, until some other knights came to their aid.

This is defiantly a wonderful book to read.

Hello everyone I hope you all had a great thanksgiving.
I had a wonderful day, we went to my dads Mothers house had lunch and visited for a little while, Then...
The Fletchers and Chicks came over for dessert and games. We played pictionary and four on a couch (After Uncle Pat Aunt Rhonda and Seth came).
then Ruth went to uncle Dennis and Aunt Debbie's so she could go shopping on Black Friday.
I on the other hand went home with the Fletchers to help them bring the boughs down to church on Friday.
So the day was Very eventful

I injoy many things, but one of the things that I enjoy most is Amateur (ham) Radio Contesting.
You ask "so what is ham radio contesting anyway" My answer could take several pages, and probably
Should... but it wont, lets say this, the goal is to contact (not via email, instant messaging, or SMS) but on the radio, as many other stations as you can. in different country's or state's (depending on the contest) in a specified amount of time, usually 12, 24 or 48 hours.
Now you ask "so who in there right mind is going to stay up ALL night just to talk to people that they have never met" well actually a lot of people will.

There is a lot of Competition, as to who will win
the contest, or who will win out of your state,
section, or division.
Because, if you win enough times your room (Shack) could look like this (this is the shack of long time contester jh4uyb, in Japan)
Mine dose not look like that unfortunately!
And you can talk ALL over the world.
   You can become a better operator.

But most importantly you have a lot of fun.

   Well now some of you might see why, but for thouse of you who dont please email me to find out.

My Latest Project

We at the 25th SOG are starting to get some weapons made,
The first one that I am working on is the M3 Grease gun.

First things first, the parts that you need are, 1) 14 inches of 11/4" pvc pipe (that you can find at hardware stores, plumbing, or electrical supply houses). a 11/4" to 1" reducer, (get the one that is designed for plumbing, it looks Much better! A 1" to 1/2" reducer (again get the one designed for plumbing). A 11/4" end cap (you would find that in the plumbing section to). the top photo on the right is of the center housing of the Grease gun (which is made by cutting the correct shape on the band saw) you would use a 2"x4" or a larger piece of wood.
The next photo down on the list to the right is of the fittings
that were described earlier in this post.
the lowest photo on the right is of the barrel assembly, it incorporates the fittings, and includes the barrel (a 1/2" piece of pvc pipe 8 inches long). (the barrel is not cut in the photo).
If you want to make one I would deffinatly suggest that you go to Wikipedia and look at the article on the M3 Grease gun
Its the best way to get a knowledge of the gun.
and you could do a Google search on the M3 grease gun,
In images, there are a lot of good pictures of that gun.
